Atharva:
Could you tell us about your background and how you became interested in finance?
Jere:
Sure. I’ve always had an interest in numbers and math, which led me to study finance in college. After graduation, I started my career in public accounting, where I gained valuable experience working with clients in various industries. Eventually, I transitioned to the private sector and have been working in finance ever since.
Atharva:
What do you think are the biggest challenges facing the finance industry today?
Jere:
The finance industry is facing numerous challenges, but I believe two of the most significant ones are the increasing complexity of regulations and compliance requirements, as well as the pace of technological change. Additionally, there is a growing demand for financial transparency and accountability from stakeholders, which requires finance professionals to be more proactive in their communication and reporting.
Atharva:
How is technology changing the way finance professionals work?
Jere:
Technology is transforming the way finance professionals work in several ways. For instance, automation and artificial intelligence are streamlining routine finance tasks like data entry and processing, allowing professionals to focus more on high-level analysis and decision-making. Moreover, cloud-based software and collaboration tools are making it easier for finance teams to work together and share information in real-time.
Atharva:
How essential is data analysis in finance, and what are some best practices for effective data analysis?
Jere:
Data analysis is vital in finance, as it helps professionals identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions. Best practices for effective data analysis include defining clear goals and objectives, using the right tools and techniques, ensuring data quality and accuracy, and collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.

What advice do you have for individuals interested in pursuing a finance career?
Jere:
For anyone interested in pursuing a finance career, my advice is to gain as much experience and knowledge as possible. This may involve pursuing a degree in finance or accounting, working in public accounting or finance, and seeking opportunities to learn from mentors and industry experts. Staying up-to-date on industry trends and developments, being open to new technologies and ways of working, and networking with others in the industry are also crucial for career growth and development.
Atharva: Thank you, Jere, for joining us today and sharing your insights on the finance industry. It was a pleasure to have you on the show. Tune in next week for another exciting episode of Media Martech and finance-tech.online.
